THE newly-formed Kange Volleyball Association in Mt Hagen city, Western Highlands province, will kick start its pre-season competition this weekend.
A total of 12 teams are affiliated with the new association, which broke away from the main body, the Mt Hagen Volleyball Association.
According to match chairman Peter Thomas yesterday, the competition would be for both men and women.
He said the first game between RS Masalai and Haco Spiders would kick off at 12 noon at Queen’s Park tomorrow.
Thomas said 12 teams registered for this year’s competition include RS Masalai, 10 City Bulls, C Rocks, Kaiwe Roots, T’ School Owbs, KGD, Haco Spiders, 8 Hours, KC Shadows, Frozen Souls, Daico and TK Knights.
He said the competition was still open for more teams to join.
Thomas said interested volleyball teams within the town or surrounding villages were welcomed to register.
He said the pre-season competition would run for three weeks before going into season proper.
He said a new match format called the 4s Volleyball challenge would be played during the pre-season.
Thomas said he was still trying to secure sponsors for the new format and, so far, only one company had come forward.
