LutheraNS of Immanuel District in Southern Highlands have presented a new Toyota Land Cruiser to the church’s headquarters.
The K200,000 vehicle was presented by outgoing district president Pastor Moses Koyomu and received by church leader Bishop Jack Urame on Tuesday during the church’s 31st Synod at Mogl Kagai village in Sinasina-Yongomugl, Chimbu.
Pr Koyomu said the vehicle was given to support work at headquarters level.
“We feel it is proper to support the national church with resources,” he said.
“It is our responsibility to support God’s work in any way possible.
“This vehicle is a gift from Immanuel District to headquarters.
“We don’t want the vehicle key to be in the possession of any church district officers or go anywhere unless it’s official ELC-PNG business.”
Pr Koyamu said the gift was a reminder and a challenge to church members to support the church and its work.
Bishop Urame said the church’s administration depended on its districts, circuits and congregations for support.
“We must evangelise the gospel in faith and peace, bearing in mind that whatever assistance given to the church has one mission – to continue the Lutheran mission to its members,” Bishop Urame said.
