Newspaper sellers

Letters

I am shocked that police officers confiscated newspapers from vendors as reported in The National on Wednesday.
While I agree with the NCD metropolitan superintendent that vendors who sell newspapers should not sell betel nuts, I for one do not agree with him that newspapers should be sold in specific locations only and not wherever is convenient as is the case now.
People buy newspapers on their way to work and it is convenient for them to have the newspaper available on their way to work, whether they are travelling in a private car or PMV or walking.
I suggest that the vendors be allowed to continue to sell the daily papers as they are doing now but they should sign an agreement with the newspaper company that they will stick to their primary job of selling newspapers and nothing else.
