THE Oil Search National Football Stadium (NFS) has gone into partial lockdown with all in-house activities suspended following directives from the Papua New Guinea Sports Foundation (PNGSF) over the coronavirus pandemic.
NFS manager Sean Vincin said only essential personnel would be allowed into the stadium after the PNG Rugby Football League’s (PNGRFL) announcement to suspend all sanctioned competitions and programmes for 11 weeks.
“In light of the announcement, the venue management wishes to advise that the NFS is in partial lockdown,” he said.
“Venue staff, permanent contractors and registered tenants will only will be granted access until instructed or advised otherwise.
“PNGSF has also ordered a minimum four-week suspension on all sporting facilities in Port Moresby until a comprehensive risk assessment has been conducted by health officials.
“We will contact our sponsors and season members in due course to advice them on the status of their individual SP Hunters season packages.”
The partial lockdown has also coincided with all competitions in Port Moresby suspending their matches and programmes in response to the pandemic.
The Port Moresby Rugby Football League and Digicel Cup, which host matches at the NFS, have also been called off until June 5.
