NGCB get naming rights to softball titles

THE National Gaming Control Board (NGCB) yesterday presented K50,000 to PNG Softball Federation for the national titles in Kokopo, East New Britain province, in April.
The event will be held during the Easter weekend.
NGCB chief executive officer Simon Sanagke handed over the cheque to  PNGSF president Chris Bais in brief presentation ceremony held at the Bisini Diamonds.
Sanagke said as part of its community obligation, NGCB was pleased to be involved with softball.
This is the third consecutive year NGCB has supported softball.
He said as much as NGCB was keen to support, they wanted to spread the sponsorship to all  sporting bodies and not only major sports.
“Softball has contributed a lot to families where a lot of young and unemployed youths take part,” he said.
NGCB started supporting softball in 2008 and had seen a rise in funds from K25,000 (2008), K35,000 (2009) and K50,000 thi s year.
Considering the development of sports and preparations for the 2015 Pacific Games in Port Moresby, NGCB has a duty to ensure our sportsmen have the right support for the games.
Bais thanked Sanagke and NGCB for their continued support.
Bais said he hoped it would enhance and create a long term relationship with the softball federation.
He said 16 teams had confirmed their participation but the number could  increase to over 20 teams with the challenge set for Kokopo.
