THE gaming industry makes a direct contribution of around K350 million annually to the national economy, National Gaming Control Board chief executive officer Imelda Agon says.
She revealed this during the launching of the Tribesman poker games in Port Moresby last Friday.
The industry also provides more than 10,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities for locals in the country.
She wants the industry to continue sustaining the vibrant and healthy activity during the current economic downturn.
Agon said the introduction of the Tribesmen game was a breakthrough and a highlight for the NGCB and the industry.
“The PNG favoured game is part of our commitment of improving front-line service in the light of innovation and delivery,” she said.
Agon said the Tribesmen game captured and reflected PNG’s distinct culture.
