NID work needs vision

Letters

THIS is in response to National Planning and Monitoring Minister Richard Maru’s statement in The National on Nov 6 under the heading, “NID work too slow”.
It’s a shame to inform Papua New Guinea that the NID system is slow.
Minister Maru is a result-oriented leader but he is misled by people who do not know the system.
The card processing machine can produce 10,000 cards in 10 minutes.
This means 1000 cards per minute. We have the most effective system in the country but it is the management that needs to be fixed.
Put the proper person in and you will get results.
Michael Kumung tried his best to rearrange the officers and did exceptionally well but the backlog of data was created because he replaced some of the very fast data entry officers with new ones.
The new recruits were new to the system and cannot meet the demand or the expected data, so he was replaced by Noel Mobiha.
Minister, there are many contributing factors to the slow data process. Data collection and data entry are not that easy as one would think.
And never expect too much from Noel Mobiha, either. It needs someone with an eagle’s eye to remedy the problem.
I do not think Noel Mobiha will solve the problem.
In order to get results, Mobiha needs to be smart, otherwise do not expect too much from him.
The NID technology is the nest technology.
