PAPUA New Guinea Football Association technical director Taku Niebo is currently attending an FA international coaching license course at the St George facility in the Midlands, England.
The FA international coaching license is part of England’s annual FA curriculum offered to coaches from around the world.
The participants qualify for a FA Level 2 and also introduction to FA and UEFA B License.
Twenty-nine coaches from 15 countries attending last year.
This year 19 coaches from 12 countries are from USA, Japan, Ecuador, Brazil, Philippines, Thailand, Kuwait, Canada, Uganda, Rwanda, Botswana and PNG.
This is a three-week course providing coaches with the opportunity to develop their football knowledge and coaching competencies.
Coaches will be instructed and assessed through a range of practical coaching activities.
These activities reflect the structural requirements contained in Level 1-3 of the standard FA coach education programme.
Coaches will be eligible for certification appropriate to the individual level of competence they demonstrate.
Coaches who achieve all three elements of practical coaching activity will receive the FA international coaching license and may be recommended to apply for the UEFA A License with the Football Association.
Niebo said the course provided an in-depth insight into coaching both youth and seniors up to a professional level.
“We had the chance to visit the Aston Villa Academy setup and also witness the professional setup of coaches and players at work,’ Niebo said.
“As part of the assessment each of us has been given topics to prepare and present a practical session with players from the academy.”
