Nine frontline FPDA employees receive Covid-19 vaccine

FRESH Produce Development Agency (FPDA) frontline staff have received their Covid-19 vaccine last week.
The nine employees were the first in the organisation to be vaccinated as they were required to travel domestically to interact with communities.
FPDA, in a statement, said getting the vaccine was one strategy to manage community transmission of the virus, but the Government-sanctioned “New Normal Covid-19 management protocols” should be adhered to at all times.
Their first dose was administered on June 17 at the National Football Stadium in Port Moresby, and would receive their second dose in early September.
Getting vaccinated is not mandatory but the employees voluntarily accepted the AstraZeneca vaccine.
AstraZeneca is recommended by health authorities for people aged aged 18 or older and the vaccine has a 60 to 70 per cent success rate, according to clinical trials conducted by regulatory authorities in Australia and Europe.
