Nine injured in fight

NINE people are nursing knife and gunshot wounds at the hospital in Wewak, East Sepik, following a fight at Sima, Yangoru-Saussia recently, police say.
Police commander Supt Albert Beli said they had the names of 56 people allegedly involved in the incident and urged them to turn themselves in.
Supt Beli said the incident had stemmed from a an argument over homebrew.
“Six people sustained gun wounds and three had knife wounds,” he said.
“They are at Boram Hospital recovering.
“(There were) destruction of properties at Sima, 56 suspects have to surrender tomorrow (today) at the Yangoru Station.
“If (they do not surrender) we will raid the village and arrest them.
“We have all their names.”
Last week, a man from Pambaniong village in Yangoru-Saussia, allegedly killed his wife after becoming suspicious of her talking on her mobile phone. The man is on the run.
Meanwhile, in Angoram, police recently reported two deaths at Kanduwanum area following a dispute.
