Nine to attend swim meet in Samoa

NINE elite swimmers will represent Papua New Guinea at the Oceania swimming championships in Apia, Samoa, next month.
The swimmers are members of Kundu Silver and Gold Aquatic Excellence squad, comprising seven male and two female participants.
They are Ryan Pini, Ian Nakmai, Danny Pryke, Adam and Nathan Ampa’oi, Jenixon Lim, Peter Pokawin, Judith Meauri and Anna-Liza Mopio-Jane.
PNG Swimming Union president Elizabeth Wells said during the event, the schedule would see swimming, synchronized swimming and open water events taking place from June 21-26.
The Open Water 5km event will be held at Faleasiu. PNG will be represented by Adam Ampa’oi and Peter Pokawin.
Wells thanked the PNG Sports Federation for funding the team’s participation in Samoa under the Commonwealth Games preparation funding and PNGSI major sponsors, Bank South Pacific.
Meanwhile, Boroko Amateur Swimming Club will be hosting their annual event, the Dolphins Sprint from June 11-13 at the Taurama Leisure Centre. The nomination for the event closes next Sunday.
In other swimming-related stories, the Theodist national long course championship will be held in Port Moresby from Sept 17-19.
