ORGANISERS of Sportz Events Port Moresby Corporate Rugby League Nines have warned teams against breaching the competition rules on representative players.
Competition director Solomon Ravu said some teams had disregarded the rules and were fielding representative players from rugby league and rugby union.
“Players competing in semi-professional competitions like the Intrust Super Cup and Digicel Cup are ineligible to participate in the Sportz Events Port Moresby Corporate Rugby League Nines,” Ravu said.
“The same also applies to Papua New Guinea Kumuls and Pukpuks players.
“Teams breaching these rules will have their competition points removed from them.”
He appealed to team managements to be honest and remove ineligible players from their sides as this was unfair on other teams who followed the rules.
Ravu also called on teams to return all filled registrations forms.
He said penalties would apply for unregistered players.
“Referees have been instructed to remove players not wearing the correct teams uniforms,” Ravu said.
“We’ve already issued several warnings on the issue already.”
