THE Southern Regional nines rugby league tournament is set to begin next month (Dec 4-9).
Competition founder Ivan Ravu said 58 teams had already expressed interest and the number was likely to increase before the end of the month.
Teams have been holding trials with neighbouring villages to finalise their 20-man squad and five officials.
Ravu said the registration fee was K850.
He warned that Port Moresby rugby league or Digicel Cup players would be restricted to five per team.
“We will permit only five A grade or Digicel Cup players in any one team and they will have to be part of the list of 20 players allowed for each team.”
Ravu said the deadline for registration was Nov 19.
Meanwhile, Ravu said a meeting for all team managers would be held on Nov 21.
“All team managers will be advised on the meeting venue and time but the confirmed date will be on the 21st of this month,” Ravu said.
