Nines tourney to pick NCD side

TWENTY teams have been confirmed for the coming NCD Governors Cup nines tournament from July 25-27 at the Kone Tigers Oval in Port Moresby.
Tournament chairman Micky Kone yesterday confirmed the huge interest from around the city and surrounding Motu Koita villagers.
“This is the first time the NCD Sports Desk has opened the door to the village teams and I believe it will not only make the competition tougher but livelier,” Kone said.
Kone said the draw would be ready by Tuesday with teams slotted in four pools of five.
He thanked John Boino and Wilfred Mai from the NCD Sports Desk for the K10,000 given to run the tournament and prize money for the cup, plate and bowl playoffs.
Following the tournament a team will be picked to play in this year’s PNG Games in November representing Team NCD.
