Niningi thanks govt for support

INTER-GOVERNMENT Relations Minister Pila Niningi thanked the Government for its continued support in building tangible development infrastructure in his district of Imbonggu, Southern Highlands.
Niningi said the most recent commitments by Prime Minister James Marape were:

  • Western Pacific University funding of K20 million in the 2020 budget and Marape after discussing with the Chinese government secured a grant of K50 million, a total of K70 million for the university; and,
  • Ialibu (Koitol) – Tambul road (old highway) for the first time, a funding of K7 million in the 2020 budget.

“Though the Western Pacific University was initiated by the previous (Peter) O’Neill government, your recognition of the importance of delivering important services to the people irrespective of political differences needs to be applauded,” Niningi said in a statement.
“The Western Pacific University is already taking shape,” he said.
