THE New Ireland government through its lighting policy has installed 44 solar street lights in parts of the province.
Governor Sir Julius Chan said the policy was directed at empowering communities to lift their standard of living, allowing them light to do their work after dark, especially in education, health and other community-oriented activities. “My government is returning control of wealth to the people by providing such initiatives and programmes that give the people confidence to be partners in the development of New Ireland. We are moving in all fronts with a new township at Bopire and the latest sports stadium in Namatanai and Kavieng,” Sir Julius said.
