Nipa-Kutubu MP helps pay students’ subsidies

 NIPA-Kutubu MP Jeffery Komal has spent more than K292,000 to assist students attending tertiary institutions throughout PNG and abroad as part of his initiative to develop human resource in his district.

Komal, who is a first-term MP, said 394 students from the five local level government areas in his district attending tertiary institutions had benefited from the fees subsidy scheme.

He said seven universities in PNG received K141,250 for 183 students while the next highest amount of K60,000 was paid to six students attending international institutions and among them was a doctorial medical student.

He said 94 students attending teachers colleges in PNG got K51,700 while 48 technical college students got K21,500.

Komal said K12,560 was paid to assist 11 students attending nursing colleges and K4,500 to six students attending business studies programmes.
