No bribery at lands, workers told

LANDS and physical planning staff are getting bribes for services not delivered.
Deputy secretary for land administration John Ofoi said this at the department’s independence anniversary celebrations last week.
Ofoi questioned why staff, when they were paid by the taxpayers, had to accept bribes without delivering the services?
He said he had been receiving letters daily of officers not delivering the required services but were receiving bribes.
The deputy secretary called on staff to turn a new leaf in their work attitudes with the 35th anniversary celebrations.
He challenged them to forget the past and create a new chapter in their commitment to work.
Ofoi called on new staff who had just joined to make a difference in work performance and accountability.
He said there was too much dishonesty going on in the department with services not being delivered.
While there would still be “bad apples”, he challenged workers to make a change and earn some respect for the department.
Meanwhile, secretary Pepi Kimas had reiterated his call for the public to report corrupt officers.
He warned that corrupt officers would have no place in the department.
