No changes in positions for teachers in Madang

ALL teachers in Madang will return to their previous positions, Teaching Service Commission chairman Samson Wangihomie says.
“A directive has been issued to the Madang education board,” he said.
Wangihomie was responding to reports that teachers in Madang were awaiting their postings for this year.
He said no other education authorities other than the commission had the powers on appointments, promotions, transfers, suspensions and dismissals of teachers.
“Therefore, the commission has declared all appointments made by the board in Madang in its Jan 13 meeting null and void,” Wangihomie said.
“Under the same directive, the commission has advised that any new appointments to vacant positions for this year be executed accordingly by the board on an acting capacity.”
He said those who had applied for promotions and substantive tenure appointments would be acting on their postings for last year until a new vacancy gazette was produced this year.
“This directive has been distributed to all concerned,” Wangihomie said.
