WEWAK police station commander Charles Parinjo has warned officers against providing escort to candidates in the general election.
Senior Inspector Parinjo said there would be no personal escort accorded to persons who had made their intentions known to contest the election because police would always remain neutral and not support any candidate. If these candidates wish to conduct awareness or do other businesses, let them go themselves and let the people decide,” he said.
“If they get bashed up, so shall it be. Policemen and women must remain neutral and execute election orders as approved by provincial police commander Vincent Pokas or myself in his absence,” Parinjo said.
