No funds for district

THE people of Huon Gulf in Morobe are affected because their district services improvement programme funds for 2013 have not been released.

Salamaua local level government vice-president Jason Tabora said the Government did not release the funds to Opposition MPs including Huon Gulf’s Ross Seymour.

Last December, Seymour and Bulolo MP Sam Basil protested outside Vulupindi Haus about Finance Minister James Marape’s reluctance to release the funds.

Salamaua, one of the LLGs in Huon Gulf, is feeling the brunt of the non-release of DSIP funds.

“The people of Salamaua want to know when they will receive these funds,” Tabora said.

“I saw in the media that this money, which is supposed to be under the umbrella of the MP (Seymour) to service the district, has not been allocated.

“Many people, especially councilors from the villagers, are asking about what has happened to their planned projects for 2013.

“Last year, nothing was implemented, because we didn’t have the money.

“Salamaua LLG office is empty. We’ve received other grants but not DSIP money.
