No funds to repair docked vessel
The National, Tuesday July 14th, 2015
MV Manus, a revenue-generating ship for the Manus government, is docked in Port Moresby awaiting repairs, an official said.
Manus provincial administrator Andrew Posong revealed yesterday that the vessel was at the dockyard but funds had run.
It has been there for years.
Posong told The National that he believed the previous management did not run an efficient operation.
He said the vessel was bought and went out of operation well before he returned home to the province to take up office in June last year.
Posong said Manus Governor Charlie Benjamin was in the city last week and had a meeting with concerned parties at 6-Mile.
People in the province have being affected as they have waited years for the ship to resume services.
Posong said people in the province depended almost entirely on sea transport.
