No improvement in Wapenamanda

I REFER to the lack of basic services in Wapenamanda district.

It is nine months since last year’s general election where the people gave Rimbink Pato their mandate.

We are happy he was appointed as the minister for immigration and foreign affairs.

We voted for him because we thought he would bring much-needed services and also maintain the feeder roads from Wapenamanda to Tsak Valley and Wapenamanda to Lawalie.

Alas, there are no signs that services will ever be delivered.

The people have high expectations of Pato as he promised

not only to deliver much-needed services but also maintain exist-ing infrastructure when campaigning.

It is sad and alarming to note

that existing infrastructure such

as roads and bridges have deteriorated from bad to worse.

I am just wondering when he will fulfil his promises.

The trust that people have for him is starting to fade.

What we do not need is a sealed road from Wapenamanda to Tsak or Wapenamanda to Lawalie.

For the MP to seal these two feeder roads will cost about K100 million each.

It is better for him to use the DSIP funds to carry out maintenance.

It is alright if there are no new projects because we have schools, health centres, roads and others in the four constituencies.

But what we badly need is for Pato to maintain all of the above.

It is important for Pato to maintain the two feeder roads as they are our lifeline.

Once they are maintained, we will get the services we need.

How can he build new classrooms if there are no roads to bring in the materials?
