The National, Monday February 24th, 2014

I HAVE been a teacher in the Highlands for 24 years. I joined the Teachers Savings and Loan (TSL) Society in 1992. K200 was deducted from my salary every fortnight, hoping that I could save up to K50,000 to buy a PMV truck, but my intention never came true. My family kept running out of food and kept borrowing our own money from TSL to pay for school fees, funeral, PMV fares, etc. For 24 years, I have not been given my savings statement and do not know how much interest TSL has put in for me as I never received any dividends. There have never been any meetings. I want to know who owns TSL. I advise others not to join them. Can the government investigate this?

  • Please update me on the status of my account with Teachers savings and loans society. I was contributing to the savings and loans society while teaching. I ceased from contributing and repaying my outstanding loan when I stopped teaching about 20 years ago. May I request that I revive my account with the membership # 385433 so I can continue to be part of the Teachers Savings and Loans Society. Need your assistance.
