WE thank Kulmat Karani for acknowledging that the recently launched Konoagil Oil Palm Project is a means to open up remote Konoagil Local Level Government in the Namatanai District.

However, we strongly condemned his call for the Higher Education Minister and Member for Gazelle Malakai Tabar to apologise to the New Ireland people and leaders.

We totally agree with minister Tabar, who is concerned for the people of Namatanai district which our member and governor are not concerned about. He does not need to apologise.

They should bring in much needed services into the district so ed derogatory statements which the minister made against them at the recently launched oil palm project.

We the landowners of Lak-Kandas find Karani’s comments as immature and do not have any substance in it. After 40 years we are still playing politics and people like Karani do not know the hardships we face on the ground.

From the outset our leaders in the province should be ashamed that at least leaders like Tabar are concerned about our welfare. He is no stranger to Namatanai and New Ireland. Tabar is married to us and his comments carry a lot of weight.

Also for Karani to ask National Alliance Leader and Treasurer Patrick Pruaitch to take back Momase people in New Ireland is very childish. We totally condemn Karani’s comments.
