VOLLEYBALL Fairfax will not be accepting any new teams for this season as it prepares its pre-season competition at the Taurama Leisure Centre in Port Moresby on Sunday.
Volleyball Fairfax match chairman Hangs Mange said yesterday that the association was comfortable with the current eight clubs who participated in the competition last year.
The current clubs are Raukele Dolphins, Telikom, Fire Defence, Freeway Hoks, Peteru, UPNG, Farmboy Bombers and Black Thunders.
The players in these clubs will be out to display top class volleyball skills to secure placings in the PNG volleyball squad for the 2015 Pacific Games in PNG.
The clubs are urged to pay up their K20 registration fees to compete in Sunday’s pre-season challenge.
If the clubs are planning to field a men and women’s team in the pre-season challenge, they will have to pay K40.
Mange said all payments should be made before Feb 21 so that they could be included in the pre-season draws for the challenge.
The pre-season will run for two weekends before the season proper starts.
Mange said the 2010 season proper will spike off on March 7 and is expected to end on July 27 followed by the playoffs for the finals and the grand finals
It will give enough time for Volleyball Fairfax to select their squad in August to prepare for the national championships and other events on the annual calendar.
Meanwhile, Volleyball Fairfax will be holding its annual general meeting (AGM) next Saturday to discuss the 2010 competition and other important agenda.
