The National, Thursday 25th October, 2012

ALL parties to the Pacific Marine Industrial Zone project will have to await their motions to be heard on Nov 15.
The project has not been put on hold on the orders of the court as reported by The National yesterday.
Justice David Canning’s office said no order was made putting the whole project off.
The Madang National Court on Tuesday only adjourned to Nov 15 to hear all matters before it by parties to the case.
The plaintiff landowners to the site of the proposed project are seeking to restrain the project from getting off the ground.
At the same time, the state and its agents through the National Fisheries Authority, the Department of Commerce and Industry and the Attorney-General (as defendants) are trying to dismiss the entire
proceeding by the landowners.
The proposal is to develop a US$235 million free trade industrial zone area on 217ha of land at Vidar, Madang, and the state is in the process of getting a US$200 million loan from China for the purpose.
The National regrets the error contained in yesterday’s report and apologises to all concerned.
