NOMINATIONS for the 2016 Pacific MMI Port Moresby Corporate Snooker competition opened yesterday.

Tournament director Joey Chan said nomination fee was K750 per team and K100 per player.

“Each team can nominate a minimum of five players and a maximum of 10 players,” Chan said.

He said nominations form can be obtained from the Aviat Club, Dragon’s Den, Laguna Hotel and the Lamana Q Club.

Due to the introduction of a premier grade, the POMBSA was looking at registering four teams for the premier grade and eight teams each in A, B and C grades.

Chan said the premier grade would play on Monday evenings, A grade on Tuesday, B grade on Wednesday and C grade on Thursday evenings.

“With the limited number of snooker tables available and the competition to be played over four nights each week, teams must register as soon as possible,” he said.

Nomination and registrations will close on Monday (Feb  22) and the competition will start the following monday (Feb 29).

An announcement by Pacific MMI of their sponsorship of the competition is expected to be made next week.

Meanwhile, the presentation night for achievements in 2015 deferred from last Thursday will be held tonight at 6pm.

Sports Minister Justin Tkatchenko is the guest speaker.
