Non-accountability another culture

Letters, Normal

THE Public Accounts Committee made its 2009 audit findings known to the public and generally reported that nearly all government departments and agencies were grossly mismanaged and failed to comply with the Public Finance Management Act.
However, only a handful of agencies were identified to have been prudently managed and they were the Attorney-General, Post PNG, PNGIPA, Angau and Alotau general hospitals.
The PAC findings showed that financial mismanagement is now an accepted practice and culture.
The only penalty to befall on these “greedy and incompetent” people would be to lose their jobs.
They are never referred to the police for possible prosecution under the criminal code.
This only makes the PAC a total waste of money and time and another toothless watchdog.
