THE office of National Youth Commission should be put in order before it implements programmes, Papua New Guinea Youth Workers Association secretary Joe Mesa says.
Mesa made the comment while welcoming and congratulating new commissioner Norit Luio, who was appointed to the post this month.
“While looking into the staff structure, the national youth commission act, the provincial and national youth councils must be revived,” he said.
It is understood many youth problems are arising because there are no councils in the provinces where the youth voices could be heard.
Mesa thanked the outgoing National Youth Commissioner Johnson Hebe for the youth development policy.
He acknowledges the partnership of National Youth Commission, the Commonwealth Youth Commission and the Divine Word University for signing a memorandum of understanding last week to offer a diploma programme in youth development studies.
“This will have positive impact to the nation as the youths will not be seen as liabilities but assets.”
