NORTH Wosera local level government elections in the Wosera-Gawi district of East Sepik is progressing smoothly, assistant Returning Officer Ben Gawi said.

Gawi said 20 candidates have been nominated for the president’s seat and 126 have put up their hands for ward councillors.

Only two female candidates are among the 126.

“Eva Kunia is the female ward member for Stapikum and will be defending her seat against others including fellow female candidate Antonia Gumban.”

He said the nomination period had been trouble free.

Gawi said voters in the area were looking forward to the polling week as they wanted to vote a good leader who would represent them in both the provincial assembly and at ward level.

The reports are that the area is packed with crowds as people congregate at Kambaning to witness sitting President Isidore Kamblapui’s nominations.

“I would like to thank all the citizens of North Wosera LLG for making this nomination week a trouble-free one,” Gawi said.
