Northern police nab two escapees in dawn raid
The National, Friday 24th Febuary 2012
POLICE recaptured two escapees during a raid at the Kokoda station in Northern last Saturday.
Provincial police commander Victor Isouve said Kevin Moira and Andrew Kopa, from Tapini, Goilala, Central, were shot by police at the Kokoda Station during an early morning raid.
Isouve said both men were armed and, with another man, were terrorising residents at the station last Friday.
He said a ward councilor called police who then raided the area.
He, however, did not give any details on their injuries.
Moira escaped from the Popondetta police cells during a mass breakout last year. Police said he was serving sentences for murder and rape, offences he committed at the Awowota Block in 2010.
Kopa, who also escaped during the same mass breakout, was serving time for murder which he committed in 2010 at Kokoda.
He said both men were detained at the Popondetta police cells.
