Not having any plan is planning for failure

SOUTHERN Highlands governor, William Powi, is championing his master plan and it has drawn much healthy debate.

Many Southern Highlanders, however, think of planning as a time-wasting, resource-depleting process.

Or just a fancy document to access funds from wherever it comes from.

But the truth is planning is a thought process and a means to an end.

In other words, it can be called a mind map because planning not to plan at all is planning to fail.

Planning is primarily aligning resources to achieve a common goal successfully.

A plan is a roadmap that ensures all stakeholders will embrace and own whatever it achieves.

To achieve its goals, all resources including people, funds, technology, training and so on must come together in a meaningful way.

But depending on how timely and achievable Powi’s master plan is, it is just a document that is lifeless.

The fate of the plan, whether it is achieved partially or totally,  undoubtedly rests entirely on the drivers who possess most talked about name tag – the  public servants.

Governor Powi’s aspirations for his province through the master plan can only be achieved for the benefit of the people if the resources employed to fulfil it are as good as his plan.
