We were not hungry enough, says Marum

A DISAPPOINTED SP PNG Hunters coach Michael Marum told The National yesterday on arrival from Australia that his side had been beaten by a superior Sunshine Coast Falcons last Sunday.
Marum referred to their 24-10 loss as inadequate and lamented his side’s inability to fully switch on for their Q-Cup round 3 match.
“The Falcons were just the better side,” Marum said.
“We were not hungry enough and we didn’t stick with our game plan and struggled in the first half again.
“We had enough ball and field position in that opening 40 to get on the score board but we didn’t make use of our opportunities and when you’re playing a side like that, you get punished.
“I guess they wanted to take revenge for last year’s grand final loss and they did that, they executed well and they deserved the win.
“I think our halves went alright again, they could have executed better. It’s all about teamwork and we have to sort this out to get back on track.
“We tried to play tough which was good thing but then we needed to play smart and that is the big area that we are lacking in at the moment,” Marum added.
The Hunters resume training to prepare for their round four fixture at home against the Tweed Head Seagulls on Sunday.
