Not right for kids to pay for govt’s failures
The National, Tuesday May 13th, 2014
CHILDREN should not be doing hard labour due to the failure of the government in providing basic services such as education and healthcare.
Children should not be out of class building roads and bridges as reported in the media recently.
Local MP David Arore should be held accountable for promoting child labour. This is against the United Nations’ Human Rights Convention.
The construction of roads and bridges is the member’s responsibility.
Likewise, children should not be raising funds for teachers in a Lae secondary school.
The children did a charitable deed for their teachers but that is the responsibility of the Education Department.
Education Secretary Michael Tapo should answer for this administrative error.
