Not yet time for PNG to stop overseas aid

Letters, Normal

I REFER to the recent comments by Prime Minister Sir Michael Somare and Morobe Governor Luther Wenge about putting a stop to overseas aids.
What are their reasons to cease overseas aid programme?
In a country like PNG where there is a high infant mortality rate, high poverty rate, high unemployment rate and poor delivery of basic services such as education, health and roads, how can we sustain without foreign aid?
When there are no corruption, diversion of funds and everyone truly lives up to a “paper white” life, then we do not need to rely on foreign aid.
It is obvious our leaders talk without thinking.
