NATIONAL Rugby League Papua New Guinea in-country general manager Mark Mom has expressed appreciation and support for Digicel Play and National Broadcasting Corporation working in partnership to broadcast NRL games.

During the official announcement of partnership at National Football Stadium in Port Moresby yesterday, Mom said he was impressed with the partnership compared to previous arrangements.

“NRL is excited that opportunity for viewers around the country is open not only to Digicel Play sites but NBC’s free-to-air  channel as well,” Mom said

“We are impressed with the arrangement made between Digicel Play and NRL Australia in cooperation with NBC to support the initiative taken by Digicel Play. “We are extremely supportive of what has transpired.

“I guess the public will have no questions about it because it is not only Digicel Play but the National Broadcasting Corporation who are  playing a part by giving a helping hand to televise the NRL on NBC TV.

He said NRL in PNG was happy to see arrangements done to promote the game and the NRL experiences because the NRL in PNG was aware of the passion Papua New Guineans have for the game.

“This is a new stage of arrangements in PNG and it is timely with the PNG sports sector being boosted by new world class facilities and improved and talented sportsmen and women in the country,” he said

“NRL PNG is prepared to work with Digicel and NBC in broadcasting both NRL games and domestic games in the country.

“This will promote the game for local viewers.

“We are thankful and we recognise the support the PNG government is putting behind the sport through NBC which is one of the state entities,” Mom said.
