NRL suspends Segeyaro
KUMULS captain and Broncos hooker James Segeyaro has been provisionally suspended by the NRL under the league’s anti-doping policy after testing positive to a banned substance.
The NRL said yesterday night that Segeyaro had returned a positive A-sample for di-hydroxy LGD-4033 — a substance banned by the NRL and the World Anti-Doping Authority (Wada) — after being tested by the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (Asada) early last month.
Segeyaro is prohibited from participating in any Wada-compliant sport while the provisional suspension is in place. He now has the opportunity to have his B-sample analysed.
Asada advised the NRL of the finding yesterday afternoon, and the NRL has spoken to Segeyaro and advised him of support services.

James Segeyaro is the iconic Rugby league Player on the NRL Scene representing our beautiful Nation PNG and have brought lot of the population in PNG to be his follower. At one stage, he let our country down when he declined the offer given by PNG Rugby League board to represent PNG in one the sanctioned tournaments. And just recently, he was dumped by his former NRL club before Broncos came into rescue him, otherwise James Segeyaro’s career would have ended there. Now he is facing another charge for drugs. This is sad for PNG’s Rugby League and to his followers. James Segeyaro continues to bring shame to all of us, the Rugby League fans in PNG. I suggest that PNG Rugby League should take tough measures like passing laws for players who will continue to bring shame to our nation and fans should impose heavy penalties for players like James Segeyaro that will probably tame his to be disciplined and good citizen abroad. Where there is no such penalties, player go out there abuse it the privileges. As a result, overseas clubs are reluctant to offer contracts to our elite local breaded players. Enough of such unpleasant actions by James Segeyaro and i am one those who is sick of his behaviours and actions. PNGRFL boards please set tough measures and lets cut such unpleasant characters of contracted players.
James Segeyaro is a total disgrace sportman, he should not be and does not deserve to represent PNG Kumuls. We have lots of talented players, forget Segeyaro and give a chance to the many NRL players. The selectors of PNG Kumuls should be ashamed of selecting Segeyaro!
People like Andrew Johns have been taking drugs and playing rugby unnoticed. He only admitted after retirement. There could be others doing the same. how come only Segeyaro was handpicked to be tested for prohibited drugs.
I bet someone should listen to Segeyaro’s side first and then make necessary conclusions, there could be some form other relevant truths of drugs been used instead.
