THE second round of the National Soccer League season will kick off tomorrow in Port Moresby and Lae following a two-week break.
The next seven weeks will see all 14 clubs in the Northern and Southern Conferences giving their best to secure one of the top-four qualifying spots for the finals.
The break also saw the opening of a mid-season transfer window, allowing players to transfer to and from clubs.
In the Southern Conference, the opening match of the round-eight triple-header will see leaders Hekari United clash with Star Mountain.
Both sides came off a win last time out and would be looking to build on that performance.
Hekari head coach Erickson Komeng said his side’s preparations for tomorrow’s match had been good.
“Round two is starting and I’m happy with the progress of my team as well as the signing of Lae City midfielder Yagi Yasasa,” Komeng told The National.
“Star Mountain have played some good football in the last few games, so we won’t be taking them lightly.”
The other matches will see second-placed Gulf Komara taking on the Central Dabari at 1pm while the match of the day will be played between rookies Tavur and Southern Youths.
Meanwhile, the Northern Conference will see the top-of-the-table clash between leaders Lae City and Morobe Wawens at 11am at Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium.
City head coach Bob Morris said all the teams were top-quality opposition. “We have to prove our superiority in the competition, we can’t be complacent,” he said.
The other Lae matches will see Tusbab Stallions face Morobe United at 1pm while Lae City Dwellers take on rookies Northern Youth in the main match.
