NATIONAL Statistician Joseph Aka has commended the national government for endorsing a submission for ward record books saying this is likely to reduce the cost of future census exercises.
Aka said with the allocation of almost K42 million, the government had demonstrated that it was serious about official statistics to service its people.
The ward record books will have the names of clans and ethnic groups and provide raw data to be used by decision-makers.
He assured the government that with the ward record books, NSO would now facilitate and provide official statistical data for the country to plan, monitor and improve the living standard of the people, focusing more on those that had been marginalised and deprived of basic services.
