NSO trains 200 in data editing and coding
The National,Tuesday 24th April 2012
ABOUT 200 people graduated last Friday in Port Moresby after a week-long training on data editing and coding by the National Statistics Office.
Trainer Francesca Tinabar said “editing and coding” was the second process that officers followed in data entry.
Tinabar said after data entry, the information was then compiled into census reports.
She said it was important that they were trained properly to understand, edit and code the data collected during the national census exercise.
She said the editing and coding and the data entry process would take six months to complete.
Tinabar said most of the people trained had been involved in similar programmes in the past and were familiar with the system and that made the training much easier.
She said they recruited Grade 12 school leavers and some young people as they wanted to build up human resource for future census exercises. The officers will be working day and night shifts to edit and code the information collected during the census.
Tinabar said about K130,000 was used to run the training.
