NUKU district in West Sepik has 84 wards of which only 20 have roads linking them, Nuku MP Joseph Sungi says.

He said during the launching of the district’s five-year development programme that road access was one of the main concerns for the people.

The national Government has allocated K5 million for the district to provide roads in one of the LLGs.

“Nuku has a population of 60,000 people, four LLGs and 84 wards, the plan captures the needs of the people,” he said.

“The plan will serve as a working document to be easily interpreted and used at all times by the people, elected leaders and stakeholders interested in the development of Nuku district.”

The plan was formulated after consultation with the people through the collection of baseline data on the existing development needs, issues of concern and aspirations.

It contains 14 development programmes.
