BULOLO-based Mobile Squad 15 police commander Snr Insp Timothy Mataro officially signed his handover instruments to commander Sgt Willie Numbos at the mobile squad’s headquarters in Bulolo, Morobe, on Wednesday.
The ceremony was witnessed by Western End commander Snr Insp Timothy Pomoso.
An emotional Mataro, who transferred from Wabag to take over as commander of MS15 in 2010, thanked all the squad members for their support in the past three years.
“It was a good three years of my stay here in Bulolo.
“However, there are issues with the new structures to be implemented as the positions does not have any structure and a housing problem is faced by the members in Bulolo,” he said.
He said he had submitted a report on the new structure to the police headquarters to address and implement and to abolish the acting and unattached positions.
Pomoso thanked Mataro for his hard work in enforcing law and order in Bulolo in his three years as commander of MS15.
“We both served together in Wabag and then were transferred to Morobe and then were both posted again to Bulolo two years ago,” Pomoso said.
“The outgoing commander had highlighted some administrative issues that I will look into and take it up with the provincial commander to look into the structure issue and create permanent positions for the section commanders.
“We will also try to address the accommodation problems.”
Numbos, who transferred from MS06 in Mt Hagen, Western Highlands, took over the reins as commander.
He said he was looking forward to taking over command of MS15 in Bulolo.
A formal ceremony will be held later this month.
