Nurses prepare to play host for symposium

THE Simbu Nurses Association (SNA) is ready to host the 16th National Nurse’s Symposium which starts on Monday.
Association president Sr Maria Mugua said it was an annual event that provided an avenue for nurses and other cadre of health workers to present their researches, clinical audits and projects sharing experiences and ideas to improve health services within respective health units.
Mugua said 14 SNA members attended the 15th conference in Popondetta last year and two nurses from Kundiawa General Hospital that presented their research papers won first prize.
As a resulted, Chimbu was selected to host this year’s conference. The theme for 16th conference is “Nurse a voice to lead on prevention of communicable and non-communicable disease: Health is a human right”.
Mugua said the primary aim of the forum was to facilitate constructive dialogue in healthcare services to enrich knowledge of health workers through researched based evidence in order to improve quality of patient care in health services.
“Nurses are frontline workers that practically implement policies in patient care, therefore, the conference brings nurses and health practitioner’s in the country together to upskill ourselves with new ideas and challenges to strengthen health care in country.”
