NEW Zealand Governor-General Sir Anand Satyanand arrives in the country today on an official state visit which will include Goroka and Rabaul.
The New Zealand High Commission last Friday advised that Sir Anand, accompanied by his wife Lady Susan Satyanand, would meet with Governor-General Sir Paulias Matane and Prime Minister Sir Michael Somare.
He is expected to travel to the Bomana War Cemetery tomorrow for a wreath-laying ceremony on New Zealand war graves during his brief stay in the nation’s capital, before departing for Goroka and Rabaul on Wednesday.
Sir Anand’s visit will also take him to a number of projects and organisations, including Anglicare StopAIDS, Eastern Highlands Family Voice, Fresh Produce Development Agency and Coffee Connections.
The New Zealand High Commission said the trip was expected to further strengthen the bilateral partnership between the two countries at both the regional and bilateral levels.
This is the first state visit by a New Zealand Governor-General to PNG in more than 20 years.
