THE Oceania Netball Federation has announced that the regional World Cup qualifiers will be held in Auckland, New Zealand, from April 18-22.
The top two countries from this tournament will represent the region at the World Cup in Liverpool, England, in July, 2019.
The top four ranking nations in the region, including PNG (17), Fiji (9), Samoa (14) and Cook Islands (22), will participate at this event to secure spots in the World Cup draws.
In preparation for the qualifiers, Netball PNG will be holding an open trials camp from Jan 6-7 in Port Moresby to select a 30-member training squad.
The call for this open trials is extended to current squad members and potential players residing in PNG and overseas.
According to Netball PNG’s high performance coordinator Mona-Lisa Leka, the board will prepare a strong team and work in partnership with the PNG Sports Foundation’s high performance centre, the PNG Olympic Committee and other stakeholders to prepare the athletes and team officials for the event.
