OFFICER cadets from the New Zealand Defence Force will arrive in the country in August to undergo training with their local counterparts, an official says.

NZ defence force adviser to PNG Lt-Col Nick Ang and Brig Pete Kelly visited the Engineer Battalion at Igam Barracks in Lae last Saturday.

Kelly met with unit heads, including Lt-Col Mark Keru, engineer battalion commander Lt-Col John Giregire and academy chief instructor Lt-Col Michael Banda.

Kelly said more than 80 officer cadets and instructors would arrive at Igam in August. They include male and female cadets.
