PRIME Minister Peter O’Neill met with the vice-president of the China Export/Import (Exim) Bank Yuan Xingyong to discuss development assistance and concessional loans for Papua New Guinea last week.
During the meeting, O’Neill expressed confidence in the continued support from the Exim Bank for infrastructure projects such as roads and airports.
“As you have noticed on your way from the airport, there are a lot of road works and infrastructure developments in progress. O’Neill said.
“My government is confident that we are on the right track and on time with our projects.”
O’Neill said the government looked forward to working closely with the China Exim Bank and was grateful for its ongoing assistance.
Xingyong reaffirmed the Exim Bank’s continued support and sought O’Neill’s assistance towards ensuring that the loan agreement for the National Capital District roads project was concluded before the Chinese delegation returned to China.
