A BUOYANT Prime Minister-in-waiting, Peter O’Neill, stepped out of the government’s Kumul plane in Port Moresby after flying in from his political camp in Alotau at 2.35pm yesterday.
He was accompanied by several leaders of parties who were likely to form a new coalition government with him.
The team that arrived at Jackson’s Airport with him included Sir Julius Chan, Don Polye, Patrick Pruaitch, William Duma, Anderson Agiru and Powes Parkop.
O’Neill’s chief protocol officer Kone Emilio, was the first to greet his boss with a bear hug.
As O’Neill stepped into the government flying unit hanger, he was greeted by a small low key welcome entourage.
Former Manus open MP Job Pomat, Chief Secretary to government Manasupe Zurenuoc and defeated Mendi open candidate Michael Nali were among the group to welcome O’Neill and his likely coalition partners.
O’Neill only had time to ask if everyone was fine before he was whisked off.
Sir Julius Chan, the People’s Progress Party leader, told Nali that camp in Alotau had gone well.
“I didn’t have to go, we finished the job already,” he said.
