O’Neill happy with electorate’s roads and bridges

 PRIME Minister Peter O’Neill has expressed satisfaction with the pace of infrastructure improvement and development during a detailed aerial inspection of his Ialibu-Pangia electorate last Sunday.

These included the reconstruction of bridges and government buildings and the upgrading and sealing of roads in the area.

O’Neill inspected the progress of roads, including the Wiru Loop, East Pangia, Ialibu-Kagua, Pangia and Ialibu Station roads before having a look at the Kambame-Kendal road – a shorter route to Mendi from Ialibu.

He also inspected the new Wiwi Bridge and the reconstruction of the Yalo Bridge, which was completely washed away by floods last year.

“I am pleased with the progress of infrastructure improvement and development in my electorate and am confident that such progress will continue during my term as the Ialibu-Pangia MP,” O’Neill said.

“It is good to see the Pangia Main Market building almost completed and will be opened later this year.

 “The construction of new bridges and roads has further enabled my people to easily access the main Highlands Highway to travel to Mt Hagen.”

The prime minister added that improved roads and infrastructure in districts would be the first step to improving people’s lives now that they will be connected to towns. 

O’Neill then flew over to Mendi to meet with his joint district planning and budget priority committee. 

He chaired the meeting which comprised provincial administrator Ungi Kembo and his deputy Patrick Rama, district administrator Pais Puk, district treasurer Kumi Kami and electoral staff, Yowe Karepa and Collin Punupo.
